Weekend Basket Weaving Workshop with Louise Brown

£135 per person

This two-day workshop is suitable for complete beginners, but if you have had some previous experience of working with willow you may progress a little quicker and feel more confident. Over the weekend you will learn the traditional methods of creating a round basket with a crossover handle, made from beautiful Somerset-grown willow.

Although this basket may look similar to other baskets I teach in one day, this one incorporates techniques which require more time to achieve: different weaves, a more substantial top border, a wrapped bow handle and it is likely to be a bit bigger too.  All in all, a lovely traditional willow basket!

The price of this workshop includes all materials and use of tools.

This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners, but please bear in mind that a certain amount of manual strength and dexterity is required when working with willow.  All projects covered on my workshops have been selected for their relative simplicity and suitability for beginners.  Throughout the workshop participants may need to use specialist basketry tools (provided), many of which are either sharp or pointed, so a sensible approach to personal safety is essential!

work apron is recommended or clothes you don’t mind getting a bit messy in.

At this time, we are regretfully unable to offer refreshments ourselves, however you are welcome to bring your own to enjoy. There is a cafe on site should you wish to purchase a drink or snack before or after the workshop.

Face masks are compulsory whilst moving around the workshop, however you may remove these whilst sat at your workbench.

Hand sanitiser and cleaning products are provided in the workshop.

At this time, workshop places are kept to between 6-8 participants, depending on the workshop, to ensure a comfortable and safe working environment.
